day trip to Ouzoud Valley from Marrakech

D

Departure

Departure at 8 am from Marrakesh to Ouzoud waterfall, we will drive 150 km in 3 hours through a landscape of rolling foothills and olive groves to this amazing area near to the village of Tanaghmeilt.

Olive tree is translated into “ouzoud” in the local language, thus the name of these waterfalls, when we arrive you will discover the waterfalls from the top.

Arriving 1h before lunch time to the most visited site of the region will allow us to walk easy whit a local guide about 600 meters down the hills and enjoy the amazing views.

This is also the home of the famous macaque monkeys, the naturally tail-less monkeys that you find performing in the main square in Marrakech. It is delightful to see them roaming free in their native habitat covered with a green vegetation.

After the walk you will enjoy launching in front of the waterfall, the typical Moroccan lunch, a delicious tajine, can be taken in a restaurant in the shade of the olive trees, after lunch you have 2 hours free to enjoy a walk through the Berber village, let yourself relax at the base of the waterfalls and catch some sun or take a swim and cool off at the base of the waterfalls.

17pm drive back to Marrakech.

Lovely day out of Marrakech
This is such a lovely day trip. You get picked up in central Marrakesh by an experienced driver and the drive to the second largest waterfall in Africa is about 3 hours away.
Here we were meet by our guide Ibraham. Such a knowledgeable and friendly person, who ensured everyone had a lovely time. He took us from the very top of the waterfall all the way around, introducing us to local people along the way, giving us enough time to enjoy the stunning scenery – we were even offered to swim if we wanted to, crossing the falls on a barge, as you get amazing shoots up and close and finally we had our pictures taking with the cheeky monkeys.
We ended this lovely afternoon with a late lunch, where I ate such a tasty lamb tagine, very reasonable priced, as a light starter and fruit for dessert were included.
Remember: Good walking shoes.
I would highly recommend this trip – thank u our real morocco for this brilliant day out.
