3 Day tour from Marrakech to Erg Chigaga and Zagora</3>
Day 1: Marrakech – Zagora
Departure at 8:00 am from your hotel or riad in Marrakech, as we head towards the charming city of Zagora. Our journey takes us through the picturesque Tizi n’Tichka Valley, renowned for its breathtaking views of the High Atlas Mountains, reaching heights of 2,260 meters.
Along the route to Ouarzazate, you’ll pass several traditional villages featuring stone and adobe houses, surrounded by terraces and walnut trees. The locals are dedicated to agriculture, cultivating crops like wheat and barley.
We’ll stop for lunch in Ouarzazate, overlooking the historic Kasbah of Taourirt. In the early 20th century, the Glaoui family, known as the pashas of Marrakech, ruled the southern region and were granted authority by the French during colonial times to maintain peace among the southern tribes.
The Kasbahs within Taourirt resemble a cobweb village, with sun-kissed buildings adorned with multi-level towers and turrets rising from closely packed ksours (family kasbahs). The intricate ramparts feature geometric designs, with a maze of alleys and gateways waiting to be explored.
After lunch, we continue our journey to Zagora, flanked by the scenic Draa River Valley. Upon arrival, you’ll witness the largest expanse of palm trees in Morocco, with over a million palm trees thriving for hundreds of years.
Finally, your camels will be waiting for a delightful one-hour ride to your campground, where you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner under the stars, surrounded by the serene beauty of the desert
Day 2: Zagora – Erg Chigaga
Day 3: Erg Chigaga – Marrakech
Wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise from the top of a sand dune, then enjoy a hearty breakfast while soaking in the tranquility of the desert.
Today, we’ll embark on an adventurous drive through Lriqui National Park, navigating many kilometers off-road as we cross majestic dunes and small mountains. Our destination is the charming town of Taznakht, known as the capital of carpets in Morocco.
Taznakht is famous for its Glaoui rugs, which are typically flat-woven with sections of knotted pile and intricate embroidery. Many of the older Glaoui rugs have become highly collectible pieces, showcasing the rich heritage of Moroccan craftsmanship.
After exploring Taznakht, we’ll begin our journey back toward Marrakech, arriving by the end of the day.

Best Desert Experience Ever.
It was absolutely fantastic to have such an experience like this in Morocco, I believe it’s a Must-To-Do if you want to discover more about the desert sites and live it.
The staff was great, the accommodations were good (I booked the private options) and the guides were quite amazing as well!
Wow, this article is fastidious, my sister is analyzing these things, therefore I
am going to inform her.
