Day 1 Marrakech - Todgha Canyon

We left early in the morning from your hotel or riad in Marrakech, embarking on an exciting luxury tour as part of your unforgettable Sahara Desert adventure. Our journey takes us toward Skoura Valley, crossing the majestic High Atlas Mountains, where heights of 2,260 meters reveal breathtaking natural landscapes at every turn. Our first stop is the Kasbah of Aït-Ben-Haddou, one of Morocco’s oldest UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Here, we’ll explore this iconic site with a local guide and enjoy lunch nearby.

The Kasbah consists of several small fortresses, or kasbahs, each standing about ten meters high. While most of the city’s inhabitants have moved to a more modern village across the river, eight families still reside in the old Kasbah. Visiting this area feels like stepping onto a movie set, as it has served as the backdrop for several famous films, including Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, Gladiator, Alexander, and Prince of Persia.

After lunch, we continue our adventure on the road to the Dades Valley, nestled between the High Atlas Mountains and the Jbel Saghro range to the south. This region boasts one of the largest oases and is home to numerous kasbahs, earning it the nickname “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs” due to the abundance of these historic structures scattered throughout the valley.

As we travel through the Dades Valley, we can reach the stunning Dades Gorge and the famous Todra Gorges (Canyon). The Grand Canyon area of the Todra Gorge is renowned for its spectacular natural scenery, with imposing canyon walls that make it one of the most breathtaking rock formations in all of North Africa. A road runs the length of the gorge, flanked by smooth, towering walls that rise impressively on both sides. Sunlight struggles to penetrate this part of the valley, and the river water remains ice cold.

In this stunning location, we will stay overnight and enjoy dinner at a charming riad, allowing you to relax and reflect on your luxury Morocco tour and the day’s adventures in the heart of Morocco’s beautiful landscapes. This journey promises to showcase the incredible diversity and allure of Morocco, ensuring a memorable experience you won’t soon forget.

Day 2 Todgha Canyon - Merzouga

Breakfast at your hotel with incredible views of the Dades Valley.

We drive from Todra to visit the grand canyon moroccan. We will lunch on the canyons region before returning on the road to Merzouga.

After lunch we continue driving to Merzouga and we will stop to see some old tunnels made in the desert that served to capture water from the underground rivers around the 14 century then continue to Erfoud the last city before Merzouga.

Arriving in Merzouga we will have your camels ready to take you on a 1 hour ride to your camp.

You will have dinner in the desert, after you can enjoy to joint the berberes and listen the music by the fire before you go to rest in your berbere tent.

Day 3 Merzouga – Fez

Wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise from the top of a sand dune. After enjoying breakfast, embark on one more hour of camel riding back to our vehicle in Merzouga. Our journey will take us to the vibrant city of Fez, but not before a day filled with unforgettable experiences and stunning landscapes that truly capture the essence of the Moroccan experience.

On our way north, we’ll make a short stop in Midelt, a charming small town nestled between the Middle Atlas and Grand Atlas Mountains, surrounded by picturesque scenery.

Soon, we will arrive in Ifrane, a town renowned for its Swiss alpine feel and located at an altitude of 5,460 feet above sea level in the Middle Atlas region. This area features three protected natural spaces: Ifrane National Park, the Cedar Forest, and the Ifrane Game Reserve. The high altitude results in abundant snow during winter, and the cool summer weather adds an exotic touch to our trip. As we explore, you’ll encounter magnificent cedar forests and colonies of monkeys, reminiscent of those that inhabit the Rock of Gibraltar.

By the end of the day, we will arrive in Fez and drop you off at your luxurious hotel, ensuring your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. This luxury tours with Our Real Morocco promises to provide a deep dive into the real Morocco, leaving you with lasting memories of the country’s stunning beauty, rich culture, and authentic experiences.

Wonderful sights. Amazing Driver
We really enjoyed our three day experience. With several stops on the first day’s drive we say a range of fantastic sights, from impressive viewing points along the Atlas mountains, to the beautiful ancient town of Ouarzazate. The (4 star) hotel we stayed in on the first night was OK, though quite basic. However, when we had a problem with the heating system the staff were very helpful, and the meal provided was more than sufficient. The camEL ride and desert experience were fantastic, and the organisation ran very smoothly. Although the third day does involve a long drive (something which is to be expected regarding the distance from Marrakech) our wonderful guide Salah, was so friendly and accommodating and made the experience an fantastic one for all of us. Unlike other comments I have read here, at no point were we asked to pay any ‘extra fees’ and the trip was exactly as it is described in the overview. Overall, we had a very memorable and enjoyable 3 days.
