6 days Sahara Desert tour from Marrakech
Day 1: Marrakech - Essaouira
Departure Time: 8 AM. Our driver will pick you up from your hotel in Marrakech to begin your exciting journey.
On our way to Essaouira, we’ll visit a women’s argan oil cooperative, as this region is renowned for its argan trees. We’ll make a few stops along the way to capture stunning photos of the trees and the local goat herders.
We expect to arrive in Essaouira around lunchtime, leaving you with the rest of the day to explore. Enjoy a delicious, fresh fish lunch at the port, then wander through the historic 18th-century medina, or relax on one of the most beautiful beaches in Africa.
Essaouira boasts a vibrant atmosphere, and we’re confident it will be a highlight of your trip.
Day 2: Essaouira -Taroudant
We’ll depart from Essaouira and travel along the coast in the calm and serene morning light, making our way to Agadir, where we can pause for lunch.
After our meal, we’ll continue our journey to Taroudant, arriving in time to explore the city’s ancient walls and vibrant souk. You can immerse yourself in the local culture, take a refreshing dip in the riad’s swimming pool, or simply unwind in the garden while dinner is being prepared.
Day 3: Taroudant-Skoura
From your riad in Taroudant, we’ll set out for the Skoura Valley, with a visit to the UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah along the way. Accompanied by a local guide, you’ll explore this remarkable site before enjoying lunch at a nearby restaurant.
After lunch, we’ll continue our journey to Skoura Valley, driving through the picturesque oasis to visit the Amridil Kasbah, dating back to the 17th century. Here, another local guide will share the rich history and significance of this iconic structure.
We’ll conclude our day at a tranquil riad, where you can relax on a beautiful balcony, sipping welcome mint tea while watching the sunset over the stunning landscape.
Day 4: Skoura - Merzouga
Our morning highlight will be the Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most famous natural wonders. Here, we’ll enjoy a short 30-minute walk to take in the stunning scenery before having lunch nearby.
Following lunch, we’ll continue our drive to Merzouga, making a stop to explore some ancient tunnels built in the desert during the 14th century. These tunnels were ingeniously designed to capture water from the underground rivers. We’ll then pass through Erfoud, the last city before reaching Merzouga.
Upon arriving in Merzouga, your camels will be ready to take you on a one-hour ride to your desert camp.
In the evening, you’ll enjoy dinner in the heart of the desert. After dinner, join the Berbers around the fire to listen to traditional music before retiring to your cozy Berber tent for the night.
Day 5: Merzouga - Agdz (Draa Valley)
Wake up early to witness the stunning sunrise from the top of a sand dune. After soaking in the beauty of the desert, enjoy breakfast before embarking on one more hour of camel riding back to our vehicle in Merzouga.
From Merzouga, we’ll drive along the picturesque Draa Valley. Despite its rich history and vibrant culture, the Berbers of the Draa Valley continue to live in ways that closely resemble their ancestors. You’ll see them riding donkeys, washing clothes in the river, and using clay to build their homes. Being in this area feels like stepping back in time, offering a pleasant and enriching experience.
Upon arriving at your Riad, you can unwind with a refreshing mint tea while enjoying the tranquility of a lush oasis. If you’re up for it, take a stroll through the gardens and visit a nearby Kasbah before settling in for dinner by the pool.
Day 6: Agdz (Draa Valley) - Marrakech
After breakfast, we’ll set off towards Ouarzazate, known as “the gate of the desert.” This city is a popular filming location for many filmmakers from around the world, thanks to its stunning landscapes and exceptional quality of light, basking in bright sunshine for at least 300 days a year.
Ouarzazate has served as the backdrop for numerous iconic films, including Lawrence of Arabia (1962), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), The Mummy (1999), Gladiator (2000), Kingdom of Heaven (2005), Asterix and Obelix (2004), Kundun (1997), Legionnaire (1998), Hanna (2011), and The Hills Have Eyes (2006).
After visiting the film studios, we will continue our journey through the High Atlas Mountains. We’ll take a break for lunch at a delightful restaurant nestled in the mountains before making our way back to Marrakech.

Tour Reviews
exceptional experience
My son and I were thoroughly pleased with our six days traveling with Deep Morocco tours from Marrakech through the Atlas mountains out into the desert and ending in marrakech. Everyone associated with the company (guides, drivers and especially the owner, Hicham) was knowledgeable, interesting, thoughtful and had a good sense of humour (which is saying a lot since our trip was during Ramadan). We felt well taken care of and were very happy with the accommodations they chose.
I enthusiastically recommend this tour company and will use them again in future travel to Morocco.
One of the best tour companies that I have dealt with- highly recommend.
Review of: 7 Days Morocco History and Culture Tour
If you are on a budget and you want to see the 6 beautiful cities in Morocco, this is it.
Well planned itineraries that will provide all the connecting rides, tour guides, transportation and service. Staff from one cities to the other were well organised. We had Adnanne drive us for 3 days from Fez to Marrakesh and we were well taken cared of. I would loved to plan with this company again with my future trips. (hopefully Corono virus will have cure) They even surprised us with a Camel ride, which gave us a great highlight for our trip.
