3 days private desert tours From Fez to Marakech via Merzouga
Day: 1 Fez - Merzouga
Departure at 8 am from your hotel in Fez for your private desert tour to Merzouga. On our way to the deep south, we’ll make a brief stop in Ifrane, a charming town at 5,460 feet above sea level, known for its Swiss alpine feel. Surrounded by the Ifrane National Park, Cedar Forest, and Ifrane Game Reserve, the area’s cool summer weather and snow-filled winters add an exotic touch to our journey towards the desert.
As we pass through forests of giant cedars, you might spot colonies of monkeys similar to those found at the Rock of Gibraltar.
We’ll stop for lunch in Midelt, a town nestled between the Middle and Grand Atlas, offering stunning views of the mountains. After lunch, we continue through the picturesque Middle Atlas until we reach Merzouga by late afternoon.
Upon arrival, your camels will be ready for a 1-hour trek through the dunes to your desert camp. Enjoy a magical dinner under the stars, followed by local music around a bonfire, creating an unforgettable evening in the heart of the Sahara.
Day 2: Merzouga - Fint Oasis
Wake up early and enjoy a most beautiful sunrise on top of a dune. After breakfast get ready for another hour of camel ride back to the meeting point.
Our driver will be waiting for you. You will travel through the Draa Valley crossing beautiful mountain landscapes from the anti-atlas to the Fint oasis.
The Fint Oasis, located 10 kilometers south of Ouarzazate, is called desert’s garden.
It is nearly impossible to imagine traversing the dry, desolate terrain of the Anti-Atlas Mountains, that any place so green, lush and full of life can be on the horizon. But suddenly you spot it: a massive, verdant palm grove, teeming with plant, animal and village life.
Composed of four traditional villages which blend Sub-Saharan, Moroccan and Berber culture, the Fint Oasis is a laid-back place where donkeys and other beasts of burden still roam the streets and women still wash clothes in the river. Though largely unknown outside of Morocco, the Fint Oasis has served as the setting for a number of Hollywood films.
It’s in this piece of verdant paradise that we will dine and sleep on our third night.
Day 3: Fint Oasis –Marrakech
After breakfast, we continue our private desert tour on the road to Ouarzazate, often referred to as “the gateway to the desert.” This city and its surrounding region are popular settings for filmmakers from around the world, thanks to their stunning landscapes and exceptional quality of light, with over 300 days of bright sunshine each year.
Many famous films have been shot here, including Lawrence of Arabia (1962), The Man Who Would Be King (1975), Gladiator (2000), and even scenes from Game of Thrones (2010). After exploring the film studios, we’ll resume our journey through the majestic High Atlas Mountains.
We’ll take a break for lunch at a charming restaurant nestled in the mountains, enjoying the spectacular views of the Tizi n’Tichka pass. This stretch of road is renowned for its breathtaking vistas, showcasing the highest peaks of the High Atlas.
As we drive, you’ll notice traditional villages dotted along the route, with stone and earthen houses surrounded by terraced fields and walnut trees, where locals engage in agriculture.
We will arrive in Marrakech by the end of the day, completing your unforgettable journey through Morocco’s stunning landscapes and rich culture.

We spent the long hours of driving through diverse landscapes listening to cool Moroccan music and talking like friends. Thank you Hicham!
Great trip from Fes to Marrakech
We enjoyed a great trip from Fes to Marrakech with our driver Hicham He was the best example of professionalism – a clean, up to date vehicle, safe driving, highly informative and extremely personable. Hicham even adjusted the itinerary based on our interest. His command of English is quite good and he was able to share information about both Moroccan history as well as contemporary issues. I highly recommend him for travel in Morocco.
