3 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga desert
Day 1: Marrakech - Todgha Canyon
We left early in the morning from your hotel or riad in Marrakech on the way to Skoura Valley, we cross the high atlas with 2260 meters of height always with an incredible nature landscape until the Kasbah of Aït-Ben-Haddou one of the oldest and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. We will visit this site with a local guide and we will lunch nearby.
The Kasbah is a group of several small fortresses, or (kasbahs), arriving to have ten meters of height each one. Most of the city’s inhabitants now live in a more modern village on the other side of the river; however, eight families still live in the old Kasbah and making this visit is like stepping into the back of a movie as it has been filmed there several famous films including Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, Gladiator, Alexander and Prince of Persia.
After lunch we take the road to The Dades Valley between the High Atlas Mountains and the Jbel Saghro range at the south. The area provides one of the largest oasis and several Kasbahs. In fact a nickname for the region is “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs” due to the many located throughout the valley.
As one moves through Dades Valley it is possible to reach the Dades Gorge and the Todra Gorges (Canyon).
The Grand canyon area of TODGHA gorge is one of the most famous nature landscapes in morocco, the imposing canyon walls make this place one of the most stunning rock formations in all of North Africa.
There is a road that runs the length of the gorge, the walls are smooth and rise impressively on both sides. Sunlight struggles to reach this part of the valley, and the river water is ice cold.

Day 2: Todgha Canyon - Merzouga
Breakfast at your hotel with incredible views of the Dades Valley.
We drive from Todra to visit the grand canyon moroccan. We will lunch on the canyons region before returning on the road to Merzouga.
After lunch we continue driving to Merzouga. We will stop to see some old tunnels made in the desert that served to capture water from the underground rivers around the 14 century then continue to Erfoud the last city before Merzouga.
Arriving in Merzouga we will have your camels ready to take you on a 1 hour ride to your camp.
Day 3: Merzouga - Marrakech
Wake up early in the morning to see the sun rising at the top of a sand dune then have your breakfast and enjoy one more hour camel ride back to our car in Merzouga.
From Merzouga to Agdz, were we will have lunch, we will drive around the Draa valley Despite its rich history, culture and fame, the Berbers of the Draa Valley still live in ways very similar to those of their ancestors. They ride donkeys, wash their clothes in the river and depend on clay to build their houses. When you are there, you feel transported to an ancient time and it will be a pleasant day.
We return on the road towards Marrakech, pass the town of Ouarzazate and cross the highest mountains of the High Atlas by the passage of the tizin tichka valley, this stretch of road is considered one of the most picturesque of Morocco.
Along the road or near it there are several traditional villages with houses of stone or of beaten earth, surrounded by terraces and walnut trees, in which the inhabitants dedicate themselves to the agriculture, cultivating wheat, barley and dedicating itself to the sale of souvenirs to whom goes by. Among the best-selling products are pottery, crockery, stone handicrafts and fossils, but especially rocks and minerals
We will arrive in Marrakech in the end of the day.
Tour Reviews
Amazing Sahara desert experience!
I’m more independent type of traveller, but as I didn’t have time to plan a desert trip by myself, I decided to try the 3 day desert tour with Marrakech Travel Services company. I have chosen Marrakech Travel Services because of a recommendation of my Dutch friend that is living in Marrakech. And the result was…WoW! I loved everything and even my friend that was so sceptical in the beginning about shared tours, agreed how wrong he was.
In the morning we were picked up by an amazing driver Mohammed who spoke fluent English, was very professional and careful while driving, always made extra stops if we needed. The hotel we stayed first night was beyond our expectations – it had heaters (very rare in Morocco), swimmingpool (I imagine how amazing is in the summer!), our dinner was accompanied by live music! I even didn’t want to leave in the morning. Merzouga was something unbelievable. The desert guides were very polite and friendly, we had a camel ride to the main camp in the desert. The camp was good – with good and clean toilet, many tents and blankets for a cold winter nights, there was a heater in the dinning tent, later drum music next to the fire. My friend was very happy with snowboard and he even tried to surf the dunes! To sum up, what I liked the most about this trip was that we not only visited the desert, but also many other places on the way. There were few visits to the local berber carpet studios where we had mint tea. Also, I was happy to meet other travellers from different countries For the price you pay for this tour, you get a lot!
Amazing tour, exceptional guide
This 3 day tour was everything I expected and more! Although it was a long trip the stops and excursions along the way really helped break the driving up. The desert camp site was far beyond what I had hoped for, such a comfortable and beautiful experience. The trek itself was mind-blowing, there really are no words to describe it. Its a must do in Morocco! As for the guides, they were all wonderful. Yousef went out of his way to help me make last minute arrangements for transportation for me on the final day of the tour from Marrakesh to the Casablanca airport. Without his help I am sure I would have missed my departing flight. He did everything he could to ensure my safe arrival to the airport, his customer service was exceptional. I cannot praise him enough for making the entire Sahara excursion one of the best in my life!!!
